The Wafflery is the build your own waffle restaurant started by the former owner of Mattie’s Diner. Sweet and savory toppings sit alongside classic breakfast sides, and the whole thing is cheap, quick and genuinely kid proof. The original is on East 10th Street in the Belmont neighborhood, with a second Charlotte location on Rozzelles Ferry Road and a third up in Boone. It is open every day for breakfast and lunch.
