Crowders Mountain State Park
About
Crowders Mountain State Park is the hike every Charlottean does at least once, about 35 minutes west of Uptown in Gaston County. Two peaks rise 800 feet or more above the surrounding Piedmont, with sheer cliff faces on both. On a clear day the views reach the Charlotte skyline. The park is popular enough that the lots fill early on a clear Saturday.
What to know
- Trails run from easy lake loops to strenuous rock scrambles.
- The Pinnacle and Crowders Trails need both hands at the top.
- Weekend parking lots fill by mid morning.
- Arrive early or come on a weekday.
