Morrow Mountain State Park sits in the Uwharrie Mountains, among the oldest ranges in North America, about an hour east of Charlotte near Albemarle. A road climbs to the summit for anyone who wants the view without the hike, and 30 miles of trails serve everyone else. Some routes reach 1,000 feet of elevation gain.
