Uchi Charlotte

Uchi Charlotte is the Plaza Midwood location of chef Tyson Cole’s Austin born Japanese restaurant. It opened in 2026 at the Commonwealth development on Commonwealth Avenue, with a rooftop bar called Uchibā upstairs. The room is light wood and clean lines, with a bar worth sitting at. It brought a nationally known sushi program to a neighborhood that had never had one. Service draws as much praise as the food, which is unusual for a restaurant this new. The rooftop upstairs serves a bar menu from the same kitchen if the dining room is full.
