Azul Tacos & Beer is the casual Mexican street food restaurant on Thrift Road in Wesley Heights, across from Pizza Baby and a few doors from MAS. Order at the counter, sit yourself, build your plate from the salsa bar, and get a Modelo on draft from the bar.

Street tacos in pollo, al pastor, asada, carnitas, lengua and quesabirria with consome, a California burrito, loaded nachos, a chicharron plate and aguas frescas big enough to share. Owner Hector works the floor and the prices are among the lowest on this list. It is self seating and counter ordering, so there is not much service to speak of, and that is the trade for food this good at these prices. Mid afternoon on a weekday is empty; Friday night the patio and bar fill with the Wesley Heights crowd.
