Ed’s Tavern is the Dilworth sports bar on Park Road that Charlotteans voted their favorite in the city, with TVs everywhere, a big patio and a menu that runs past typical bar food: wings, a smash burger, a Nashville chicken sandwich and fried pickles with chipotle ranch. The mimosa tower is the weekend spectacle.
It stays open late enough for the West Coast game as well as the early one, and the kitchen keeps going after most Dilworth restaurants have closed. A sister bar, FreeMore Tavern, does the same thing in Wesley Heights on West Morehead Street, with the same menu and the same patio focus. Both draw a mix of neighbors, softball teams and anyone who needs a screen for a game.
