About

Freedom Park is Charlotte’s signature city park, 98 acres between Dilworth and Myers Park along East Boulevard. A seven acre lake sits at the center, ringed by walking paths, benches and picnic tables. The park hosts Festival in the Park every fall and has been the starting point for a great many Charlotte childhoods. Weekend crowds are heavy, so an early morning visit is the calmer way to see it.

What to know

Playgrounds, sports fields and a bandshell fill the grounds.
A train runs for children in season.
The Little Sugar Creek Greenway runs along one edge.
Weekend parking fills early, so arrive before mid morning.
