Freedom Park
About
Freedom Park is Charlotte’s signature city park, 98 acres between Dilworth and Myers Park along East Boulevard. A seven acre lake sits at the center, ringed by walking paths, benches and picnic tables. It hosts Festival in the Park every fall and has been the starting point for a great many Charlotte childhoods. Weekend crowds are heavy, so an early morning visit is the calmer way to see it.
What to know
- Playgrounds, sports fields and a bandshell fill the grounds.
- A train runs for children in season.
- The Little Sugar Creek Greenway runs along one edge.
- Weekend parking fills early, so arrive before mid morning.
