Kindred

Kindred is a chef-driven restaurant on Main Street in downtown Davidson, run by chef Joe Kindred and his wife, Katy Kindred, a sommelier and the restaurant’s designer. Kindred opened in February 2015 in a 1914 building that was originally the town pharmacy, and the restaurant uses three floors plus a back patio.

The seasonal menu leans Italian with Southern touches, built around house-made pastas such as squid ink conchiglie and einkorn rigatoni with wagyu sugo, and the house milk bread opens the meal and returns at dessert as bread pudding. Kindred was named Recommended in the Michelin Guide American South in 2025 and 2026, and Bon Appétit ranked the restaurant No. 7 on the magazine’s 2015 Hot 10 list.
