Moosehead Grill is the Montford Drive watering hole in a former Pizza Hut building, with an eclectic interior, cold beer, heavy pours and some of the best wings in Charlotte. Thirteen flavors, including a few that read like dares.
Uncle Donnie’s Famous Blackened Wings and the Bee Stings are the orders, the Killer Bees are the escalation, and the PB&J wings with Thai spices, peanut butter and apple jelly and the Hemo-Goblin with blood orange and ghost pepper are for the adventurous. Onion rings are the side. The room fills with a mix of Montford strip regulars, Myers Park families early and a bar crowd late, and the wait on a weekend can run 30 minutes with a text when the table is ready. The beer list is long for a bar this size, the bartenders pour samples, and the air conditioning is set cold enough to be a running joke.
