Mr. Charles Chicken & Fish is the soul food institution run by father and son Mike and Michael Rhynes, with the original takeout counter on Statesville Avenue in Druid Hills North and dine in locations on Cambridge Commons Drive and Dalton Avenue. It has some of the best fried chicken in the city.
The wings come out whole, lightly breaded with the house seasoning and crisp, and the four wing dinner with two sides and a roll, hot sauce on the side, is the order. Whiting and flounder, gizzards, corn nuggets and pound cake round out the counter. The Statesville Avenue original is takeout only and weekdays only.
