Puerta is the Mexican restaurant on East 7th Street in Elizabeth from the 1957 Hospitality Group behind The Crunkleton and Rosemont, in the former Stanley space, and it was one of the city’s best new restaurants when it opened in 2023. The menu is inspired by regions across Mexico and the bar is built on tequila and agave.
Dips and salsas, empanadas, pork belly chicharron, hanger steak, seven tacos including duck and shrimp, and a queso that regulars call the best in the city. Five margaritas, six signature cocktails, paloma pitchers, weekend brunch and churros for dessert. Reservations recommended.
