Queens University of Charlotte

Queens University of Charlotte is a private university on a 50-acre campus on Selwyn Avenue in Myers Park, where it has been since 1913. Founded in 1857 as the Charlotte Female Institute, it enrolls about 1,600 undergraduate and graduate students and competes in NCAA Division I as the Royals.

The university is merging with Elon University and, once the U.S. Department of Education completes its review, will operate as Elon University | Queens College, keeping the Queens name, campus and athletics. A full-time Elon Law program is scheduled to open on the campus in the fall of 2027 alongside a graduate physician assistant program, and the schools have pledged expanded internships, employer partnerships and public programs for Charlotte.
