Raíces
About
Raíces is a regional Mexican restaurant at the RailYard on South Tryon Street in South End, from husband and wife Alfonso Bravo and Amalia Macias, who run five restaurants in South Carolina. The restaurant opened on September 12, 2026, with chef T.J. Steele, who spent 20 years living in Oaxaca, running the kitchen.
The menu draws on Jalisco and Oaxaca, with heirloom corn, handmade tortillas, open-flame cooking and seafood bought daily. Dishes include a charred-avocado guacamole, hamachi ceviche, tacos de carne en su jugo and ribeye with mole negro, and the bar is built around mezcal, tequila and other agave spirits.
