About
Taqueria Number 1 is a counter-service Mexican restaurant on Central Avenue in east Charlotte, a few blocks from Plaza Midwood, and one of the taquerias the city itself named in its East Charlotte Hispanic Heritage Month feature. It recently moved to 2801 Central Avenue from its longtime East Independence Boulevard location, according to its own site.
The menu runs past tacos into huaraches, pambazos and sopes, with al pastor and asada the standing orders and a self-serve salsa bar that rewards restraint. It’s fast, inexpensive and built for a lunch at the counter or a to-go bag on the way home.
