The Diamond

About

The Diamond is the Plaza Midwood diner founded in 1945 on Commonwealth Avenue, a retro room with a bar, a jukebox feel and a menu that runs from cheesesteaks and fried bologna to the Small Block Burger, a third pound of ground beef with lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo.

It is one of the last of the old Charlotte diners still doing what it always did, with a Plaza Midwood crowd that is fiercely loyal to it. Fresh cut chips with Vidalia onion dip and a homemade hot sauce at the bar are the extras.
