Waterford Golf Club is the Hale Irwin designed public course on Clubhouse Road in Rock Hill, a wooded property with consistent, well maintained greens that roll true and a layout that rewards leaving the ball below the hole.
Ongoing work is visible and appreciated: tree removal to fix root intrusion, a new driving range with ball tracking technology in progress. Cart paths need attention in places and yardage markers are inconsistent on some holes. The cart staff get called out by name for going out of their way. Open daily. Tee times come through the usual booking sites, the wooded setting means shade on a hot afternoon, and the front nine plays gentler than the back. It is 30 minutes from south Charlotte and usually easier to get on than the courses inside the county.
