The 10 best bowling alleys in the Charlotte area

Bowling around Charlotte comes in several sizes: 40-lane league houses on North Tryon Street and in Rock Hill, a blacklight lounge at the EpiCentre in Uptown, duckpin bars with self-pour taps in Plaza Midwood and South End, and family entertainment centers with laser tag and arcades. This list covers 10 places to bowl in Charlotte, Pineville, Concord, Mooresville, Gastonia, Rock Hill and Lake Wylie. It is for families looking for a rainy-day plan, groups planning a party and league bowlers shopping for a home center. Walk-in games run from under $4 to about $13 at peak times. Entries are listed alphabetically, not ranked.

How we chose

Every center here was confirmed open in October 2026 through the center’s own website with current prices, a live booking page, a 2026-27 league schedule or a 2026 county health inspection. Picks are based on lanes and programs, from leagues and youth bowling to national tournaments, on coverage from Axios Charlotte and the earlier Charlotte Agenda, the Charlotte Business Journal, WBTV, WCNC, WCCB, RePlay magazine and the U.S. Bowling Congress, and on a spread of prices and styles. No more than two entries come from the same company, so Lucky Strike Entertainment, formerly Bowlero Corp., has two picks here and runs other area centers too. No center paid to be included.

AMF University Lanes

North Tryon Street, 5900 N. Tryon St.

With 40 lanes, AMF University Lanes on North Tryon Street is a full league center, with billiards, an arcade, a sports bar, a pro shop and private event rooms. The center belongs to Lucky Strike Entertainment, and walk-in prices run below those at the company’s Uptown center.

Games cost $5.99 Monday through Thursday and rise to $9.99 after 4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and shoes are $5.99. Family Unlimited bowling with shoes is $12.99 a person on weekends from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Night Strike, from 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 p.m. Sunday, is $17.99 with shoes.

Lanes can be reserved up to eight days ahead. Mecklenburg County inspectors gave the center a 95, an A grade, on September 2, 2026.

George Pappas’ Liberty Lanes

Gastonia, 2501 S. York Rd.

Thirty-two lanes and a full league program fill George Pappas’ Liberty Lanes on South York Road in Gastonia. According to the center’s website, Liberty Lanes is the home of the Belmont Abbey Crusaders bowling teams. Bumper bowling, cosmic bowling, birthday and corporate parties and leagues for every age are on the schedule.

A game costs $4.99 per person on weekdays before 6 p.m. and on Sundays, and $6.49 after 6 p.m. and on Saturdays, with $5 shoes. The Family Special, $39.99, covers two hours of bowling and a small soft drink for up to four people, shoes not included. The snack bar cooks orders when they’re placed and does takeout.

Leagues fill many evenings, and the website warns of nights with no open lanes after 5:30 p.m., so call 704-868-2695 before you go. High schools also bowl on some weekday mornings.

Lake Wylie Pins N’ Wins

Lake Wylie, S.C., 4034 Charlotte Hwy., Suite 105

Executive recruiter Darrin Skinner opened Lake Wylie Pins N’ Wins in July 2012 as Lake Wylie Bowl N’ Bounce, RePlay magazine reported in a 2023 profile. The center has 16 lanes with automatic bumpers and an LED video wall across all of them, and RePlay reported that the center tested a new kind of string pinspotter in 2018.

Games cost $5.25 Monday through Thursday and $5.75 Friday through Sunday, plus tax, and shoes are $3.27. Midnight Bowling on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 p.m. to midnight is $15.25 for unlimited games with shoes. A 24-player laser tag arena and a youth play zone fill out the building, and RePlay counted about 90 arcade games and 20 beers on tap in 2023.

Book lanes online at least four hours ahead, or call 803-831-2553, since not every lane can be booked online. Adult leagues bowl Wednesday nights and some Mondays and Thursdays, so weekends and daytime are easier.

Lucky Strike Charlotte

Uptown, EpiCentre, 210 E. Trade St., Suite D-164

The 18 blacklight lanes at Lucky Strike Charlotte sit inside the EpiCentre in Uptown, in the former Strike City, which Bowlero Corp. acquired in 2018 and reopened as Bowlero Charlotte in January 2020, according to the company. The parent company took the Lucky Strike Entertainment name in December 2024, RePlay magazine reported, and the center now runs under that brand, with an arcade, a sports bar and a lounge.

Walk-in games are $7.99 Monday through Thursday and jump to $12.99 after 4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with $5.99 shoes. Family Unlimited, on weekends from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., is $18.99 with shoes, and Night Strike unlimited bowling is $21.99 with shoes from 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 p.m. Sunday.

Arcade play is half price on Wednesdays, and the third game is half off every day. All of the deals are walk-in only.

New Victory Lanes

Mooresville, 125 Morlake Dr.

The U.S. Bowling Congress picked New Victory Lanes in Mooresville to host the 2027 USBC Women’s Championships, the event’s first visit to the Charlotte area in 20 years, and the center also hosted the U.S. Open in 2019. Owner Paul Kreins told the USBC that the center had hosted many important tournaments, “but nothing of the magnitude of this event.”

The family-run center has a taproom and eatery, an arcade, Friday-night casino bowling, live comedy nights and leagues, plus billiards and shuffleboard at $8 an hour on weekdays.

Lane availability is limited Monday through Thursday because of league bowling, so plan open bowling for Friday through Sunday or reserve a lane online. Fall lane hours start at 3 p.m. on weekdays and noon on weekends.

Pinhouse

Plaza Midwood, 2306 Central Ave.

Rich Moyer and Drew Nesemeier opened Pinhouse in Plaza Midwood in July 2019, with four duckpin lanes in the basement, Charlotte Agenda, now Axios Charlotte, reported. The two-story building was once Midwood Cleaners, and the 1920s decor takes its cue from The Great Gatsby, Charlotte Magazine reported. Cardinal & Pine readers ranked Pinhouse third among bowling spots in North Carolina in an April 2024 poll.

The bar pours from 72 self-serve taps of beer, wine, cider and seltzer, and there is a full cocktail bar, a balcony over Veterans Park, two outdoor seating areas and three large LED screens for sports. The owners put about $750,000 into the roughly 6,000-square-foot space, the Charlotte Business Journal reported in 2019.

Pinhouse is closed Mondays and opens at 5 p.m. on weekdays and noon on weekends. Call 704-579-4162 to reserve a table, and book private events through the website.

Pins Mechanical Co.

South End, 307 W. Tremont Ave.

Twelve duckpin lanes, rows of pinball machines and free classic arcade games fill Pins Mechanical Co. on West Tremont Avenue, which opened in December 2019 in a 23,000-square-foot building shared with a sister arcade bar, Charlotte Agenda, now Axios Charlotte, reported. A rooftop bar with skyline views and a patio with fire pits came with the opening, and WCCB counted more than 40 pinball machines in 2023.

Duckpin costs $7 a game per person Monday through Thursday and $9 Friday through Sunday, pinball is $1 a play and the classic arcade games are free. There is no kitchen, but outside food and delivery are welcome, and leashed dogs are allowed inside and on the patios, though staff may turn dogs away at busy times. A 3.5% entertainment fee is added to every transaction.

All ages are welcome until 8 p.m.; after that, Monday through Saturday is 21 and up, and Sundays have no curfew. Lanes are first come, first served unless you book an event, and the small front lot is free.

Spare Time Pineville

Pineville, 9600 Pineville-Matthews Rd.

Built in a former Dick’s Sporting Goods store on Pineville-Matthews Road, WCNC reported, Spare Time Pineville pairs bowling lanes with HD video walls over every lane, an Elite Suite lounge, a large arcade, laser tag, escape rooms and several restaurants and bars, according to the company.

Open bowling Monday through Thursday is $6.49 a game or $39.99 per lane per hour, Friday through Sunday is $45.99 per lane per hour and shoes are $5.59. All You Can Bowl, Sunday through Wednesday from 9 to 11 p.m., is $8.99 with shoes, and Strikes & Slices on Thursday nights adds unlimited pizza slices for $11.99. Wednesday is Half Off Day, and laser tag is $9.

Guests under 18 need a guardian 25 or older, who can bring up to five minors, and IDs may be checked. No outside food or drink is allowed, and the restaurant and game areas take only cards, so load any cash onto a Spare Time card at the front.

Stars and Strikes Concord

Concord, 545 Concord Pkwy. N.

A two-story laser tag arena, SPARK augmented-reality bowling and 24 lanes, eight of them in a VIP section, share the building at Stars and Strikes Concord on Concord Parkway North, according to the company. The Charlotte Observer called the 58,000-square-foot space the area’s largest arcade when the center opened, RePlay magazine reported. The center also has virtual reality, a large arcade, a room full of claw machines and a tavern with a full bar.

Prices vary by time of day and demand, WBTV’s QC Life reported, with augmented-reality and VIP lanes about $5 more than standard bowling. Entertainment Happy Hour, Monday through Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. to close, has 99-cent bowling and half-price appetizers, and Wednesdays bring $1.99 games and half-price arcade play.

The center opens at noon on weekdays and 10 a.m. on weekends and stays open until midnight or 1 a.m. The website lists only a company-wide phone number, so check the location page for current specials before you go.

Strikers Family Sports Center

Rock Hill, S.C., 124 N. Anderson Rd.

Forty lanes make Strikers Family Sports Center on North Anderson Road in Rock Hill a busy league house, and the 2026-27 schedule runs from morning senior leagues to 9-pin, a scratch trio league and four Saturday youth divisions, according to the center’s league sheets.

Open bowling is $3.75 a game Monday through Thursday before 5 p.m., or $2.95 for juniors and seniors, and tops out at $5.50 on Friday and Saturday evenings, with $3.95 shoes. Weekly deals include $1 games, $1.50 hot dogs and $1 sodas on Mondays from 9 p.m. to midnight, three games for $4.75 on Tuesdays and $8 unlimited bowling on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Billiards are $7 a table per hour most of the week.

Weekday daytime is the bargain, $9 for two hours from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Leagues bowl most evenings from about 6:30 p.m., so call 803-329-5210 to check lane availability before an evening visit.
