Meeting and event spaces in Charlotte

Charlotte hosts a lot of things: the corporate offsite, the nonprofit gala, the wedding, the retirement dinner, the conference for four hundred. The venues are spread across the metro, and the ones in the ring towns are often better rooms for less money than anything in Uptown. This guide sorts the directory’s spaces by what you’re holding, then covers the people who fill them. Facts about each venue come from its own listing or site. Every one takes tours; take them.

The small meeting: coworking rooms

For a board meeting of eight or a workshop of twenty, the coworking spaces rent by the hour. Flywheel Concord has meeting rooms and private suites alongside startup programs. Venture X Fort Mill has meeting rooms and virtual offices. Minti Cowork & Conference is Mint Hill’s hub. Work at Wheel in Rock Hill has conference rooms in a wellness-first space, and Collision Cowork sits in Rock Hill’s Knowledge Park. The Davidson Village Inn‘s Cellar is a meeting and wine-tasting room with video conferencing next to Davidson College. Our read: for anything under thirty people, a coworking room with a real screen beats a hotel conference room with a projector cart, and costs half.

The mid-size event: 50 to 200

City Club at Gibson Mill is a private venue in a restored mill on McGill Avenue in Concord, the room a lot of the north side’s galas end up in. 601 Milestone Venue is Concord’s newest, built for weddings, church gatherings and conferences. Engatherings is the intimate exposed-brick room in Concord. ClearWater Arts Center rents event space among artist studios. The Venues at Langtree in Mooresville is one property with several rooms for weddings, parties and meetings. Overflow books its taproom and roof for corporate events and daytime meetings. Cain Center for the Arts in Cornelius rents its spaces between shows. Riverwalk Event Venue in Rock Hill is the riverfront room with indoor and outdoor space. And Elegance Unveiled in Indian Trail handles the shower, the micro-wedding and the milestone.

The wedding and the estate

Alexander Homestead is a century-old Queen Anne Victorian on eight acres of gardens in Charlotte, run by Wedgewood Weddings; Riverwood Manor in Harrisburg is Wedgewood’s woodland venue with lakeside ceremonies. The Manor at Serenade Farm in Concord is a boutique space in more than 100 acres of woods, for corporate retreats as much as weddings. The Brawley Estate is a gated 22-acre venue in Mooresville. The Landing at Lake Norman does weekend weddings and weekday events with lake views and catering by Chef Alexander. Magnolia Woods in Huntersville is one-stop. The Legacy at Gregory Downs in Marshville is a family-owned farmhouse venue. Velvet Venues in Dallas is the luxury banquet hall with white-glove service. The big one: 500 and up

Cabarrus Arena & Events Center in Concord is the exhibition hall and arena that hosts the county fair and the trade shows. Charlotte Motor Speedway rents its clubs and infield for corporate events between races, and a speedway suite is the offsite that people talk about. The Whitewater Center has a conference room and pavilion on 1,300 acres, with the rafting as the team-building. Blumenthal‘s theaters Uptown rent for the gala with a stage. The convention center and the Uptown hotel ballrooms aren’t listed yet; Charlotte Destination Group, a corporate meeting and destination management company, is who books them for you.

The people who fill the room

The hotel

The directory’s hotel side is thin, and that’s where the biggest ballrooms in Charlotte are. The Davidson Village Inn is the boutique option with meeting space. Barrister’s at the Esquire Hotel in Gastonia handles the dinner. For the Uptown hotel ballroom and the airport conference hotel, the destination management company above is the route until the hotels list themselves. The offsite that isn’t a room

The best corporate events in Charlotte don’t happen in a ballroom. A rafting trip at the Whitewater Center, a private improv workshop at CATCh, a speedway experience, a team escape room, a clay-shooting afternoon at Juneberry Ridge, a chartered bus to a winery in Monroe: these are the offsites people remember, and every one is in the directory.

Booking it

Saturday dates at the estate venues book a year out; corporate weekdays are easy. Ask what’s in the rental: tables and chairs, the bar license, the cleanup, the parking. Ring-town venues are cheaper than Charlotte and often nicer, and Concord in particular has more good rooms per capita than anywhere in the metro.
