Hickory Grove
One of the most diverse parts of the city: the Albemarle Road corridor with grocers, restaurants and places of worship from a dozen countries, and affordable housing stock behind them.
Hickory Grove is the east Charlotte district along Albemarle Road, Hickory Grove Road and East W.T. Harris Boulevard, between Independence Boulevard and the Mint Hill line. It was a farming crossroads with a Methodist church at its center before the city arrived; it built out from the 1960s through the 2000s with ranches, split-levels, subdivisions and apartments.
Where it is

If you’re moving here
Hickory Grove is affordable, diverse and car-based: a house with a yard for less than almost anywhere else in the city, Albemarle Road for the shopping, and a commute to Uptown of 20 to 30 minutes down Independence or Albemarle. It suits a family on a budget that wants a yard and a park, and anyone who cooks and wants the groceries of a dozen countries within a mile. Reedy Creek’s trails and lake are the weekday-evening escape.
