Yorkmount
The airport-side neighborhoods along Old Pineville and Yorkmount Road, mixing industry, warehouses and affordable ranch streets.
Yorkmount is the 1950s-to-1980s neighborhood off South Boulevard and Yorkmont Road, between Tyvola Road and Arrowood Road, in the belt of ranch houses, apartment complexes and light industry between Madison Park and the airport. It’s one of the few neighborhoods inside the loop where a house is still affordable.
Where it is
- South Boulevard and Yorkmont Road
- The Charlotte Regional Farmers Market on Yorkmont, the state’s year-round market
- The Tyvola and Archdale Blue Line stations on the east edge
- Bojangles Coliseum and Renaissance Park minutes west
If you’re moving here
Brick ranches and apartment communities, with the businesses that serve the South Boulevard and Tyvola corridors around them: auto shops, warehouses, the market, and a growing set of international restaurants and groceries along South Boulevard. The train puts Uptown twenty minutes away. Rents are among the lowest inside the loop, which keeps the mix of long-time residents and new arrivals. It suits a first-time buyer or a renter who wants a train station and doesn’t need a trendy address.
If you’re visiting
