Charlotte Hornets Home Opener vs. Atlanta Hawks

Evening tipoff · Spectrum Center

First home game of a season that looks nothing like the last one. LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges were both traded over the summer, the first season without either since 2017, and the rebuilt roster has Coby White at point guard, Naz Reid, Grayson Allen, Royce O’Neale and Dorian Finney-Smith as new additions, and rookies Hannes Steinbach and Christian Anderson. Kon Knueppel is back after a record setting rookie year, and Brandon Miller returns from a 20 point season.

The Hawks come to town for a Friday opener two nights after the season starts in Brooklyn, and the first homestand is busy: Miami on Saturday, Washington on Monday, and the new look Philadelphia 76ers on Halloween night. All non national games air free on WSOC and TV64 this year.

What to expect

  • Home opener vs. Atlanta on a Friday night
  • First look at the rebuilt roster under coach Charles Lee
  • Four home games in nine days to open the year
  • 17 weekend home games this season

Schedule

  • Oct. 23 vs. Atlanta Hawks, home opener
  • Oct. 24 vs. Miami Heat
  • Oct. 26 vs. Washington Wizards
  • Oct. 31, 6 p.m. vs. Philadelphia 76ers

Plan your visit

Opening night sells through. If you want the first game, buy early; if you just want to see the new roster, the Monday Wizards game is the easier ticket.
