WinterFest at Carowinds
Select dates through Jan. 3, 2027 · Carowinds
Carowinds turns into a holiday park the day after Thanksgiving with millions of lights, a 70 foot Christmas tree, live holiday shows, a nightly parade, Santa and a selection of rides running in the cold. Fire pits, s’mores and hot chocolate in a refillable souvenir mug cover the rest, and the whole park is redecorated section by section, from Camp Snoopy to the Thrill Zone.
It runs on select dates through Jan. 3 and ends with a New Year’s Eve countdown and fireworks. Not every ride runs in winter, but a good share of the lineup does, and riding a coaster in the dark with the lights on is its own tradition. Live shows, light displays and most rides are included with admission; food, drink, merchandise and select holiday experiences are extra.

Good to know
- Carowinds is at 14523 Carowinds Boulevard, on the state line off I-77 exit 90.
- Buy tickets online before you go. Gate prices are higher and the online calendar shows which nights are open.
- The Six Flags app has the map, showtimes and wait times.
- Weekend nights sell out and traffic on Carowinds Boulevard backs up an hour before opening. Weeknights are the calm option.
