Veterans Park

Veterans Park is the rebuilt park on Central Avenue in Plaza Midwood. It holds a covered splash pad, a large playground, tennis and pickleball courts, basketball, baseball fields, a calisthenics area, a disc golf course and a big open field, all on one site. It has become the east side’s default family park. Parking is plentiful and the restrooms are clean. Everything sits on one site, so a family can split up and still stay within sight of each other. Restaurants are a short walk away, which makes an afternoon here easy to extend into dinner.

What to know

• The covered splash pad is rare in Charlotte and useful in high summer.
• Shade around the picnic tables is limited, so go early or late.
• The rebuild separated the toddler playground from the courts.
• A disc golf course runs through the far side of the grounds.
