The 10 best barbershops in Charlotte

Barbershops around Charlotte run from a Cherry shop that opened in 1935 and a Black-owned company that grew from one east Charlotte shop into 13 locations, to Plaza Midwood chairs known for straight-razor beard work and an Uptown shop where customers can drink a cold beer during the cut. This list covers 10 shops in Charlotte, Matthews and Concord, with men’s haircuts from $34 to $45 and straight-razor or hot towel shaves from $25 to $45. The list is for anyone looking for a regular barber, a first straight-razor shave, a sharp fade or a kids cut. Entries are listed alphabetically, not ranked.

How we chose

Each shop showed 2026 activity: a website updated in 2026, customer reviews on a booking page dated November 2026 or a dated 2026 notice from the shop. Picks are based on how long each shop has operated, reader polls and coverage in Queen City Nerve, Cardinal & Pine, The Charlotte Post, Axios Charlotte and QCity Metro, and prices from each shop’s website or booking page. Where barbers set their own prices, the entry names the barber whose menu is quoted. Eight shops are independent, and two belong to regional companies. Shops without a working website or booking page were left out. No shop paid to be included. Prices and hours were last checked on November 6, 2026.
