Whiskey, Wine & Fire

A fireside evening of whiskey and wine tastings with food cooked over open flame, live music and vendors on the lawn at Ballantyne’s Backyard, the outdoor event space in the middle of the Ballantyne campus. Tickets cover unlimited tastings from the participating distilleries and wineries, so it is a sipping event more than a drinking one, and the food comes off live fire cooking stations rather than a buffet.

It has become one of south Charlotte’s fall traditions, a dressed up night out that does not require going Uptown. Late October is usually the first weekend cold enough to want a fire, which is the whole idea.

Plan your visit

21 and up. Dress for standing outside on an October night, and arrange a ride home; the campus is a long way from the light rail.

• Ballantyne's Backyard is on the Ballantyne campus off Ballantyne Commons Parkway, with parking in the campus decks.
• Tickets are limited and it has sold out in past years.
• Bring an ID; wristbands are checked at every pour.
