Providence is the corridor along Providence Road from Interstate 485 south toward the Union County line, a run of 1980s-to-2000s subdivisions with names like Providence Plantation, Providence Country Club and Stonecroft, plus the newer developments toward Weddington and Waxhaw.

- Rea Road, Ardrey Kell Road and Ballantyne Commons Parkway, crossing it
- A shopping center at each major intersection
- Ballantyne to the west, Matthews and Union County to the east
If you’re moving here
This is the schools-and-space end of the Charlotte market: large houses, larger lots, highly rated public schools and private schools nearby, at prices that reflect all three. The commute to Uptown is the longest in the city, 35 to 50 minutes at rush hour, so most residents work in Ballantyne or SouthPark. Test the drive at 7:45 a.m. before you sign anything; the moving guide says so for a reason. The Union County line is minutes away, and plenty of households here shop and eat in Waxhaw as often as in Charlotte.
